Gauteng Department of Economic Development Launches #SupportLocalFridays with Edenvinne Randburg Store

The Gauteng Department of Economic Development (GDED) is excited to announce the launch of its #SupportLocalFridays campaign, which promotes and uplifts local businesses across the province. Every Friday, GDED showcases three Gauteng-based businesses on its social media platforms, encouraging residents to support local enterprises and drive inclusive economic growth.

This Friday, we are featuring Edenvinne, a trailblazing South African retail company specialising in local beauty and grooming products, as part of the #SupportLocalFridays campaign. Founded by Rearabetswe Dire after facing rejection from a major beauty retailer, Edenvinne provides a much-needed platform for local SMMEs in the cosmetics industry, offering them direct access to consumers through physical retail stores.

#SupportLocalFridays aims to:

  • Increase visibility for local businesses: By promoting small and medium enterprises on a public platform, the campaign ensures local businesses can reach new audiences, gain exposure, and increase sales.
  • Encourage community-driven support for SMMEs: The campaign invites Gauteng residents to actively choose local products and services, directly contributing to job creation and economic growth.
  • Strengthen local economies: Supporting small businesses helps keep money circulating within the local economy, fostering business growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Edenvinne is an example of how local businesses can fill gaps in the market and create platforms for other entrepreneurs. Edenvinne exclusively lists South African brands and offers over 1,100 product variants across 98 local brands, giving local beauty and grooming SMMEs an opportunity to thrive despite the dominance of international and celebrity-endorsed products. Their newest store at Randburg Square Mall is a testament to the growing movement of supporting homegrown talent and products. Through stores like Edenvinne, the #SupportLocalFridays campaign hopes to inspire more residents to invest in the future of Gauteng’s local economy.
