SANDTON CENTRAL AND JRA AT THE VANGUARD OF TRAFFIC LIGHT SECONDARY POWER INITIATIVES

Following the partnership between the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and Sandton Central Management District (SCMD) to keep Sandton Central’s traffic lights functional during power outages, all 32 traffic light intersections in the urban node are now supported by secondary power through the involvement of Sandton corporates.

Johannesburg has initiated a city-wide clean-up campaign to rehabilitate 100 illegal dumping sites, starting in the CBD and expanding to seven key regions. Led by Mayor Morero, this multi-departmental effort aims to create clean, safe community spaces and promote sustainable waste management and environmental education for long-term impact.
