Vrededorp, Johannesburg – October 9, 2024
Following yesterday’s successful visit to Caroline Street Old Age Village, Ashraful Aid’s mobile clinic continued its crucial work today, bringing much-needed medical care to the elderly residents of Radio Cottage, Amber Court Flat Units, Teak Court Flat Units, and Akashia Court Flat Units in Vrededorp. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to provide medical support to vulnerable elderly communities who have long been underserved.
The mobile clinic, which was first deployed at the request of Shakiera Tayob, Executive Director and Chief Editor of the Fordsburg Independent, has already made a remarkable difference in the lives of these residents. Today’s visit provided health screenings, medical check-ups, and immediate care to those in need.
One standout moment from the visit was Shabeer Abdul Aziz‘s quick response in rescuing an elderly woman living in Vrededorp who experienced a seizure. Thanks to Shabeer’s swift action and the assistance of Rescue 786, the woman was safely transported to the hospital for urgent care. This was a powerful example of how Ashraful Aid’s dedicated team is willing to go beyond the expected to serve the community.
Shabeer, along with Mohammed Safwaan Moosa, were both present once again, demonstrating their tireless compassion and commitment to ensuring that every resident received the attention they required.
Yesterday, after Ashraful Aid assisted the elderly residents of Caroline Street with health screenings, they also provided hot meals and water for the victims of the Booysens fire, as well as assisted Fietas residents with water relief.
Aunty Jackie, one of the grateful residents, expressed her appreciation, saying, “I feel so much better after today’s check-up. May God bless the entire team, especially Shakiera and Mohamed, for their unwavering support and dedication to our well-being.”
In addition, Aunty Stella from Radio Cottage sent a heartfelt WhatsApp message to Shakiera, saying, “Slmz baby shukran again this is really a big help on behalf of all here at Radio Cottage. I would like to say thank you for always being here for us 🤲🏻❤️😘.”
The mobile clinic continues to be a lifeline for these elderly communities, many of whom have faced difficulties accessing healthcare. Tomorrow, the clinic will extend its reach even further to other old-age homes, ensuring that more residents benefit from the much-needed medical care.
